Dr. Thinisia Thiruchelvam (Dr. T) is a Doctor of Chiropractic. She began her career in the field of rehabilitation at Western University, where she obtained a Bachelors degree with honors in Kinesiology. Witnessing patients recover from wide ranges of musculoskeletal conditions, Dr. T recognized the great opportunity to help people with chiropractic, manual therapies, and active rehabilitation. She earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic and graduated with Cum Laude honors from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Since graduating, Dr. T has dedicated many hours to post-graduate courses and training in order to expand her assessment and treatment skills. She is dedicated to practicing the most current evidence-based techniques for treating injuries in the body. Dr. T is trained and certified in the following practice focuses: Certified Active Release Technique Provider (A.R.T ) Certified Medical Acupuncture Provider Certified Shift Concussion Management Provider (Vestibular/Visual Retraining) Athletic Movement Assessment Trained Foot/Ankle Biomechanics Specialist – Video Analysis of Gait and Running Patterns TMJ (Jaw) Pain and Dysfunction Advanced Training. Taking the strongest tenets from many streams of manual therapy, rehabilitative exercise and complimentary medicine, Dr. T provides functional, evidence-based care for her patients and is keenly interested in finding the root cause of the dysfunction, not just treating the symptoms. Dr. T strongly believes in a collaborative care approach and often includes other team members (Sports Medicine Physicians, Physiotherapists, Registered Massage Therapists, Pedorthists, Athletic Therapists, and Dieticians) to assist her in managing her patients’ conditions and to help her patients realize their rehabilitation goals. Dr. T has a passion for movement assessment, functional rehabilitation, and general patient care. She has worked with a diverse group of patients including the athletic and geriatric population. Dr. T’s goal is to empower her patients to view their body as resilient, anti-fragile and powerful. She is very passionate about patient education and guides her patients to understand how their body is meant to move, and how to build their own skillset/toolbox filled with techniques to manage their own aches and pains. Aside from English, Dr. T is fluent in Tamil and can conduct appointments in either language.
