Dr. Emily Calligan was born and raised in a suburb outside of Detroit, Michigan. She grew up swimming, participating in triathlons, playing lacrosse and weight lifting. She attended Grand Valley State University where she obtained her bachelor’s in exercise science with a clinical emphasis. She then went on to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Oakland University. Throughout her graduate work and professional career, Dr. Emily Calligan has worked with a variety of musculoskeletal populations and is experienced in handling sports specific injuries, pre and post operative patients, and patients with neurological deficits. Dr. Emily Calligan's passion is to treat patients in order to restore their mobility, strength and function so they can get back to doing the things they love. She enjoys working with a broad population and working as a team with the patient in order to achieve their specific goals. She does this with a variety of techniques including manual work, functional massage, Graston technique, kinesiotaping and a variety of other Orthopedic Manual Therapy techniques (OMPT). Additionally, Dr. Emily is certified in Integrative and Neurologic Dry Needling (IDN), which is beneficial in the treatment of systemic soft tissue pain and dysfunction.
A 60 minute one-on-one session focused on pain relief, movement restoration, and performance. Each visit may include hands-on soft tissue and manual therapy, corrective therapeutic exercises, gait and movement retraining, postural correction, and return-to-sport progressions. Dry needling is provided when clinically appropriate to reduce muscle tension and improve mobility. Our goal is to get you moving better, feeling stronger, and back to the activities you love—pain free.
