**Not Accepting New Patients** Melina received her Master of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia, following the completion of a Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Exercise Science. She is certified in acupuncture by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute and is certified to practice intramuscular stimulation (dry needling). Melina has been practicing as a Physiotherapist since 2008 and has since pursued numerous post-graduate courses studying the science of movement. She has completed training and mentorship programs specifically related to the selective functional movement assessment and functional movement screening. She discovered Pilates mid way through her career and is a firm believer in its efficacy in movement improvement. Her focus when treating patients is to discover the root cause contributing to injury, rather than just treating the symptoms. Melina has experience treating a wide variety of patients ranging from recreational and professional athletes to clinical populations. Melina combines her clinical skills with education ensuring that her patients understand the nature of their injury, and their treatment program. She has a passion for health promotion and often lectures to community groups, other health care professionals and sports organizations about injury prevention. Melina has been involved with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Masters in Physical Therapy Program as a lab instructor for Neuroanatomy, as an examiner for the Internationally Educated Physiotherapist Exam Preparation program as well as the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy National Physiotherapy Licensing exam. In her spare time you can find her chasing after her toddler, or on a beach in Greece.
