Dr. Kat Bertaut PT, DPT, OCS is a Boston area orthopedic and sports physical therapist with a strong interest in treating athletes and active adults. Kat has worked with multiple runners, skiers, snowboarders, hockey players, and baseball players to not only recover from injuries, but also improve overall performance. Kat completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in Austin, TX and afterwards moved to Vail, CO to complete her orthopedic residency with Howard Head Sports Medicine. Following residency, she stayed in Colorado and was able to enhance her practice working with post-operative patients and return to sport protocols. She was also able to participate in research projects, including writing a book chapter on Achilles tendon repairs. Since moving to Boston, Kat has been able to work in busy outpatient settings with a diverse caseload and most recently got certified in Emergency Response for Athletes. She enjoys staying outside and being active on the weekends and wants to help her patients do the same. Outside of the clinic, you can find Kat hiking or backpacking with her dog Gumbo, playing tennis, skiing, or checking out the local Boston music scene.

A gait analysis is a systematic assessment of how a person walks or runs. Our gait analysis appointments are completed by our trained Physical Therapists. It typically involves observing various aspects of movement, such as stride length, speed, and biomechanical faults. This is completed with a slow motion video, with research in mind. The goal is to identify any abnormalities or inefficiencies in movement that could lead to injury or impact performance. There may be exercises prescribed based on what is found to help assist your running form.
