Mike Penney, Physiotherapist completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) at Memorial University, having his thesis examining the benefits of Foam Rolling featured in Men’s Health Magazine and published academically in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning. He then obtained his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at McMaster University. Since graduation, Mike has completed extensive continuing education in the fields of Acupuncture, exercise physiology, manual therapy, motivational interviewing, soft tissue release and biomechanics. He has completed his post-graduate certification via Acupuncture Canada and enjoys combining needling treatments with a strength and conditioning focused approach. Mike feels strongly that patients must be engaged, informed and active throughout their recovery process and will spend time educating patients so that they understand their condition, the prognosis and how the treatment plan will help with their complaints. Mike has a special interest in working with seniors, weekend warrior athletes and injured or uninjured sedentary people who are looking to get active. He specializes in preventive physiotherapy and loves working with patients who want to increase their physical fitness while decreasing their injury risk. He utilizes a variety of techniques always focusing on patient specific exercise prescription but also including joint mobilization/manipulation, soft tissue release (FRC certified) and acupuncture. > Education & Certificates •BSc.
