Allison Penney is a Catalina, Newfoundland native that began her Physiotherapy career in 2006 after graduating from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario with a BSc. in Physiotherapy. She began her career in Kingston then moved to Ottawa to work as an Orthopaedic Physiotherapist in private practice for over 12 yrs. In these years, she gained valuable knowledge from working with some amazing Physiotherapists. She is now currently an experienced Physiotherapist of 18 yrs. In 2021, Allison decided to come back to Newfoundland to spend more time with her family after the Covid years. Allison knew the Physio and Company Clinic owner (Amy O’Reilly) when they were both Varsity Athletes at MUN. She was very happy to join the Clinic 2 years ago as she and Amy share similar values and principles towards best case management and successful Physiotherapy practice. Allison has been a competitive athlete for many years. She started off with a long Volleyball career from Junior High to playing varsity for both Acadia and Memorial Universities. She played many years in Ottawa in the OCVL both in Women’s and Mixed League. Allison was introduced to CrossFit by a colleague and then did that for few years. She found her real love though in Olympic Weightlifting via CrossFit and has been competing in that for the past 6 years. She has multiple National Masters medals and qualified for the Masters World Championships for the first time in 2022. Allison has many different Physio “tools” to use and has completed various post-grad courses such as Manual Therapy (Level 3), Acupuncture, Mackenzie, Butler Neural Mobilization, APTEI Ortho courses, Taping, Soft-Tissue Release and Dry Needling- which she has been practicing with since 2011. Allison’s passion in Physiotherapy lies in truly getting to know the Client and how best to help them individually. Figuring out “the puzzle” though diagnosis and best treatment practices is how she works. A positive experience for all is the ultimate goal.
