Meaghan treats athletic and non-athletic injuries / concerns of all kinds and enjoys working with children and adults. She is passionate about pelvic health and has a special focus in pre and post-natal therapy (birth prep, labour support, post-partum therapy). She has continued to develop her practice through certification in acupuncture and pelvic floor therapy and through course work in functional rehabilitation, core rehabilitation (including DRA) and concussion rehabilitation. She values continual learning and growth to meet the needs of her clients through evidence based practice. Meaghan always takes a patient centred approach. She enjoys understanding your goals and the specific demands on your body in order to develop an individualized plan for rehabilitation and prevention of injuries. Through manual therapy, education, exercise and other alternative treatment options like acupuncture, taping and shockwave therapy, she aims to address the root cause of concern. Meaghan graduated from Queen’s University with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. Prior to that, she completed a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology at Acadia University where she studied exercise physiology and athletic therapy. Outside of the clinic, Meaghan enjoys family time with her husband, daughter and dog. She loves travelling, food and time outdoors. At your first appointment, we spend at least half the visit speaking about individual concerns, your pelvic health history and your goals for treatment. Each session is individual to fit your specific needs and comfort level. The physical exams entail a general observation of posture, orthopaedic assessment of the low back, sacrum, hips, and core muscles. We usually then perform an internal exam vaginally or rectally depending on your comfort level. The internal exam reveals a lot of useful information about muscle strength, control and endurance, but patients can also benefit greatly from non-internal pelvic physiotherapy. Our main goal in pelvic physiotherapy is to inform and empower our patients through individualized care.
