A long-time yoga practitioner and teacher, Hélène graduated with Honours from the International Academy of Massage. She enjoys the challenge of meeting each individual’s unique needs, and loves working with different types of clients and conditions, using the techniques best adapted to the situation. In session, she shows a solid clinical approach, attention to detail and effective palpation skills, while holding a safe space for the client, and encouraging communication. She’s seen the impact of fascia and scar tissue work on musculosketal and nerve disorders when used with Swedish massage techniques, trigger point therapy and well-targeted deep tissue techniques, and she’s always amazed at how knowledgeable therapeutic touch can soothe the nerves, calm the whole system and reduce pain. She likes to incorporate a bit of cupping into treatments, and empowering clients, by giving them tools and knowledge to take home, such as stretches, etc. to support them in achieving their health goals. Therapeutic massage is treatment that is more focused on dealing with a specific issue or injury. The pressure and technique will vary depending on the individual, but the goal is resolution of the issue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff neck, back and shoulders, TMJ, Sciatica, Tendonitis, and other overuse injuries. The treatment can be uncomfortable, so communicate with your therapist during the treatment and to report any lasting discomfort post-treatment. For treatments longer than 60 min, please call 613-830-1380 to book.
