Originally from Maine, I began as an early childhood educator, specifically kindergarten in New Hampshire. I never imagined the path my life would take after we relocated to Georgia! Pivoted & enrolled in the nursing program at Gordon & earned my degree/license as a registered nurse in 1996. I have always felt it was a gift given to me, because not everyone has the ability to endure what nursing entails, what healthcare professionals see day in and day out. I learned it was not for the faint of heart to say the least. I spent 15 years as a critical care/ICU nurse. Trauma, organ transplants, neuro/ICU, cardiovascular ICU, all of it. I wanted to learn as much as possible to be the best nurse I could be, and I gained an IMMENSE sense of fulfillment helping my patients and their families. In 2014 I changed direction to assist families with medically fragile family members (pediatric & adult) who needed in-healthcare. It was my job to walk them through the states processes & advocate for them to secure much needed medical help in the home, keeping them out of the hospital & with their loved ones, a higher quality of life. From the hospital days to in-home health, I developed close relationships with my families & patients, many of which I still communicate with, and will for life, checking on them & seeing if they need any help or assistance. I have watched with pride as my daughter (Kim Holbrook) founded & opened her own practice (Holbrook Holistic Therapy) for the purpose of helping those within our community to feel their best selves from a holistic & natural approach. When she asked if I would be interested in adding my skills to expand the businessess offerings I did not hesitate to say absolutely! I can assist clients in different ways with my medical trainings & experience (almost 30 years worth) and spend one-on-one time with them in an unhurried, calming environment; something I was not able to do while working in facility environments, and it has ignited a new passion & love within I didnt realize I was missing & needed. I specialize is Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Therapeutic/Clinical bodywork, post-op care, wound care, disease management, & education on a range of things (nutrition, possible negative medication interactions, etc) to help you feel your best & keep dis-ease at bay. Its an honor to be here & I cant wait to meet you & help you be/feel your best self!
