Ilkbay came to Canada to pursue a degree in Cognitive Science at Carleton University. After completing his degree, he decided to pursue massage therapy at Algonquin College to help people more directly. As a soccer player, Ilkbay found that massage therapy helped him recover from surgery, injury, as well as maintain a high performance level. He entered the field of massage therapy in 2019 to help people the same way he benefited from it. Ilkbay is trained in many modalities, diligently exploring issue causes rather than simply treating symptoms. He most enjoys and specializes in deep tissue and sports massage. He is experienced in treating diverse populations, including the Ottawa RedBlacks, and a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Ensuring each client feels their input is heard, valued and integrated into their treatment goals, be it for a sport injury, chronic pain or relaxation, is of the utmost importance to Ilkbay. His personal and professional experience with injury lends a unique perspective and understanding of client needs. In his spare time, Ilkbay enjoys strength training and yoga, and playing board games with his wife and their two cats.
Therapeutic massage is treatment that is more focused on dealing with a specific issue or injury. The pressure and technique will vary depending on the individual, but the goal is resolution of the issue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff neck, back and shoulders, TMJ, Sciatica, Tendonitis, and other overuse injuries. The treatment can be uncomfortable, so communicate with your therapist during the treatment and to report any lasting discomfort post-treatment. For treatments longer than 60 min, please call 613-830-1380 to book.
