Hello, I’m Katie! I have recently graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO) in Hamilton in 2023 and I am in good standing with OSTCAN. After receiving her bachelors of science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University, Katie always knew she wanted to be in the profession of helping people. After doing some research, she found herself in the hands of Osteopathy. “I think what drew me to this profession was that there is no handbook on how to treat certain injuries. With osteopathy, you treat the body that is in front of you.” Her studies at the CAO, which is a rigorous four year program, includes more than 4,200 hours of education and over 1,000 hours of supervised clinical hours. Katie continues to uphold and practice the same principles that were created by the founder of Osteopathy, A.T Still. Osteopaths follow the principles of Osteopathy and work with the body using all layers of anatomy and physiology to guide the treatment. Osteopaths correlate the patient’s symptoms back to their anatomy. Through gentle manual osteopathic treatment, Katie works to return the body to a state of symmetry, allowing the body to utilize its self-healing and self-regulating properties. Osteopathic care has been found to be helpful for people of all ages and health type concerns, including: musculoskeletal issues, acute or chronic injuries, digestive issues, reproductive issues, respiratory health, and much more. Katie continues to educate herself with anatomy, physiology, and the principles of Osteopathic practice. When she is not studying or working, she is keeping herself busy by working out in her home gym, and spending time with her partner and two young kids.
