Angela Foran, doctor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been in practice since 2007. Her interest in Chinese medicine began while living in Taiwan in the late 90’s. It was there she was first exposed to acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, along with cultural aspects of the medicine such as, eating or avoiding certain foods according to particular health conditions or seasons. With a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology Angela had a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology but was drawn to the wholistic nature of TCM. Over the years Angela has completed further education, honing her skills in dermatology with a diploma of Chinese medicine dermatology along with deepening her understanding of Chinese medicine classics through translation course of Classical Chinese. In addition to her private practice she provided acupuncture at several non-profit organizations, one of which was the Global Acupuncture Program where she was part of a team training health care workers in Uganda to use acupuncture protocols. Outside of her clinical practice she spent several years as an ethics instructor and clinical supervisor at the Tzu Chi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After starting a family she launched a Chinese herb apothecary to provide TCM practitioners access to Chinese herbal remedies. This business endeavour is still in operation and provides a service to practitioners across Canada. Rounding out her professional experience includes serving several consecutive years on the Ministry of Health’s Health Care Practitioners Special Committee for Audit Hearings and most recently taking on a post as a part-time practice advisor at the College of ComplementaryHealth Professionals. It is not all work though, Angela loves spending time outdoors, whether biking to work, camping, hiking or paddling in the summer, snowboarding or skiing in the winter. Although Angela’s clinical focus is on dermatology, mental wellness, digestive disorders and perimenopause. She welcomes all new patients and looks forward to working with you to achieve your health and wellness goals.
