Alana was a Summa Cum Laude graduate and the class valedictorian of the Diploma of Acupuncture program at Pacific Rim College. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta. While at university, Alana was a member and captain of the varsity swim team for 5 years, while finally retiring at graduation to cap off a 15-year career as a high-level athlete. During her time as an athlete, she was no stranger to injury which led to her finding acupuncture and leaning on it to keep her in top shape while representing Canada on a national and international stage. Alana offers an anatomy-informed approach blending traditional Chinese medicine and orthopedic acupuncture to effectively treat musculoskeletal pain, dysfunction, and injury. She employs a variety of techniques in her treatments, including: electro-acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, and moxibustion (heat therapy). Other professional interests include neuropathies, mental health, and general practice. Her treatment goals always include getting you back to doing what you love. Alana continues to work with the college as a teaching assistant in orthopedics & traumatology, where she instructs students in advanced orthopedic needling techniques and assessments. When she’s not in the clinic, she’s off hiking in the woods with her partner and her rescue dog, Chips.
