95 Holland Ave, Ottawa, ON, K1Y 0Y1

Sophie Desmarais’s journey into physiotherapy is rooted in a lifelong dedication to movement, sport, and empowering people to feel their best in their body. She began her academic path at the University of Ottawa, completing an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics, where she also worked as a student athletic therapist for the women’s hockey team, then worked as a personal trainer after graduation. She later went on to earn her Master of Science in Physiotherapy from Brunel University London. Her clinical training spans a wide range of practice settings, from musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy with elite rugby athletes at Trailfinders Rugby Club in London, to acute care at King’s Cross Hospital, to neurophysiotherapy and pelvic health placements. Prior to completing her MScPT, Sophie also worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant in both MSK and neurological rehabilitation and volunteered in post-stroke rehabilitation through Different Strokes in London. Sophie’s practice philosophy centres on collaboration, taking the time to understand what matters most to each patient, identifying the contributing factors behind their symptoms, and building treatment plans that combine manual techniques, sports massage, and exercise rehabilitation in a way that fits their real life. Outside the clinic, Sophie keeps active through basketball, flag football, hiking, running, and strength training. Bilingual in English and French, she happily works in both languages. Sophie is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and is currently accepting new patients.
