Physiotherapist, Mari is an outgoing, thorough practitioner who has experience working in several rehabilitation facilities – both in private care and in-patient settings. Her areas of specialty include pelvic health for males and females (certified level I, II, III), neuro physiotherapy, acupuncture and dry needling for the whole body, concussion, vestibular rehabilitation, temporomandibular therapy (TMJ), as well as manual therapy. Mari graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University and completed her Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy at McMaster with honor. While attending school, Mari spent a great amount of time working in the McMaster Children’s Hospital and at several private facilities around the Hamilton area gaining experience in rehabilitation and injury prevention. Mari completed additional training in athletic taping, vestibular and concussion assessment/treatment, NDT courses for neuro rehabilitation, stroke assessment using the CMSA tool, as well as soft tissue release techniques. Avid of learning more, Mari is always on the lookout for more courses. She believes in incorporating hands-on treatment and exercise prescription to optimize the overall health of each patient. She enjoys working collaboratively with the other clinicians within Pillars of Wellness to ensure each patient feels that their sessions are valuable and effective. In her spare time, Mari enjoys playing soccer, swimming, travelling and hot yoga. She has volunteered in many community programs focusing on spinal cord, multiple sclerosis, and cardiovascular rehabilitation and feels personal satisfaction when her contributions improve other’s health and long term well-being.
The physical assessment may include assessment of your low back, SI joints, connective tissue of the abdomen and thighs, and a pelvic floor assessment. A pelvic floor assessment involves an internal exam looking for trigger points in the pelvic floor, and assessing the strength of the pelvic floor.
