Maya is a Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin). She graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Kinesiology and a Certificate in Disability in Physical Activity (DIPA). She has over 2 years of experience as an athletic trainer with ample experience in; sport-specific exercise prescription, rehabilitation of both acute and chronic injuries, first response, athletic taping, and manual therapy. Maya loves to work with athletes of all types and is still on a medical team doing athletic therapy and first response on the weekends. Maya also has extensive experience leading one-on-one and group exercise. She has had the opportunity to work with children, youth, and seniors with intellectual and physical disabilities including but not limited to CP, MD, SCI and TBI. She has amassed over 500 hours of experience leading exercise and physical activity with individuals with disabilities through her roles as Co-President for Students 4 Special Olympics, a current Special Olympic volunteer, and a Supervisor and Exercise Coach at an adapted community-based exercise program. Maya is passionate about facilitating inclusive physical activity and exercise to help you feel empowered and strong. Working with Maya will give you the confidence and tools you need to be in charge of your body and health. Maya makes exercise exciting and enjoyable so that you can make movement a long-term habit. When she isn’t working, Maya loves doing her own movement (structured exercise, hiking, skiing), being outdoors, and finding new spots to enjoy a cup of coffee!
