Samara Reigh is a Doctor of East Asian Medicine and the founder of Sanctuary Health. Samara has her Master of Science from Southwest Acupuncture College, her doctorate in integrative healthcare from Pacific College of Health and Science, and a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology & Biostatistics from UIC. In her time as the president of the the Illinois Society of Acupuncturists and the Illinois delegate to the American Society of Acupuncturists, she worked legislatively to increase access to holistic healthcare. Samara believes that health is never individual-- it always exists in community and is rooted in the environments in which we live. She thanks everyone that has contributed over the years to make Sanctuary Health such a special place.
Fall corresponds with the Metal element in Traditional East Asian Medicine and the Lung and Large Intestine meridians. We’ll start there, with Samara walking through the meridians and what this seasonal shift means in traditional medicine. Candis will then guide a fall equinox flow working through the chest, shoulders and arms along those channels, with a mix of movement and longer-held postures. We’ll finish in savasana with community acupuncture from Samara using points associated with the season.
