Physiotherapist Jake Head has dedicated half his life to studying human movement, starting out with an undergrad degree in Kinesiology from Western before completing his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland, Australia in 2008. Jake has over 12 years of clinical experience and hasn’t lost his passion for learning. He’s completed Level 1 SMFA (Functional Movement Screening) and NKT (Neurokinetic Therapy), and is currently completing a licensing course for Contemporary Medical Acupuncture and Dry Needling (2021). Jake is an avid athlete whose high-level sports experience led him into his career, but his experience and beliefs extend past traditional sports medicine to include a holistic, biopsychosocial model of care. He knows that emphasizing communication, listening skills, empathy, and acceptance are critical to empowering his patients to adopt a positive outlook for their recovery, and ensuring that their individual treatment goals are met.
Your initial Physiotherapy appointment includes a thorough review of your health history and treatment goals, with movement screening, orthopedic and manual assessment to determine the best treatment plan. Your Physiotherapist may perform soft-tissue release, stretch therapy, joint mobilizations, ultrasound, and other hands-on techniques as well as guide you through mobility training and active rehabilitation exercises.
