Mackenzie has always been fascinated by the human body and its remarkable resilience. She values what we can learn from the body when we listen to its subtle language, and work with it instead of against it. With a sincere interest in holistic healthcare, and a love of working with her hands, Massage Therapy was a natural fit. In 2014, she completed her 2,200 hr training through MacKay College in Saskatoon, SK. Upon finishing her program, she felt the pull to move out west and made Canmore, AB her home for the next 11 years. This is where she gained valuable experience working both in a clinical setting and luxury spa setting. She feels grateful to have been able to work with (and learn from) an incredible team of physiotherapists, sports medicine doctors, personal trainers, acupuncturists, and world-class athletes. The combined experience has made her knowledgeable about working with a variety of health concerns, treatment goals, and clients from various walks of life. During the pandemic, she was introduced to and fell in love with the gentle healing of energy modalities, and pursued her Level 2 training in Usui Reiki - an area she looks forward to incorporating more into her practice. Mackenzie is passionate about providing client-focused, highly individualized treatments. She understands the importance of the body-mind relationship, and aspires to create a safe, restful space to support healthy nervous system regulation. She has an unhurried, soothing flow to her technique, with an intentional sense of touch. She believes in a balanced treatment approach using a combination of relaxation and therapeutic techniques to help ease muscle tension, reduce myofascial restrictions, address injury, and alleviate pain. She is adept at applying an appropriate depth of pressure, while responsively adjusting as the muscle tissue changes throughout treatment. By integrating a variety of Swedish Techniques, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release/Cupping, Stretching Techniques, and Reiki, she is an excellent choice for clients with therapeutic treatment goals who also want to feel relaxed and rejuvenated at the end of a massage. Outside of the clinic, she is a big supporter of the arts, and forever seeking new live music, exhibits, and festivals to explore. The things that spark the most joy for her are an afternoon on the water paddleboarding, dancing to records in her kitchen, bird-watching, sipping a craft beer with friends, painting, or simply cozy time spent with her two big fluffy dogs and partner. Whatever your treatment goals, every body is welcome and deserving of safe, positive touch. Whether it’s your very first massage or 100th, she looks forward to holding space for you and would feel so honoured.
