CLINIC Alternative Medicines
53 Center Street, Northampton, MA, 01060
CLINIC owner and Wellness Tycoon I graduated from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in September of 2009, with a special emphasis on Chinese medical research. I began my practice on State Street in Northampton in April of 2010. In November of 2011, I started CLINIC Alternative Medicines, so that I could better serve patients by bringing together a broader range of wellness resources under one roof, on Main Street in Northampton. I moved CLINIC to its ‘forever home’ at 53 Center Street in Northampton, finally achieving the vision I had for it even back in my acupuncture school days, in 2022. I am actively involved in improving Northampton community life, especially with my involvement in the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce, where I served as a member of the Board of Directors for 6 years. I am a general practitioner with special emphases on pain issues and emotional and psychological stress. I love working with stressed-out women. I am a fairly ‘feely’ acupuncturist. I believe that patients do best when they not only passively receive treatment, but when they are also able to tune in to their body and experience the changes taking place. I think it’s also important to learn to differentiate between the natural, physiological experience of change— even intense change— and pain. I am one of very few practitioners in the area who does muscular fasciculation/ trigger point needling/ ‘dry needling’ techniques, along with bleeding, cupping, and other more aggressive treatments, when appropriate. My goal is to have patients get off the table feeling better every time, and to build on that progress from appointment to appointment. I walk the line delicately between encouraging comfort and a meditative, restful moment, and intently encouraging change. Prior to my career in Chinese medicine, I was in academic philosophy. I live in Northampton with my partner, stepchild, kindergartener, and kitty, and love doing home and garden projects, biking in all weather, pointing at audience members while singing karaoke, and being a contender at trivia. I am a former Board member for the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce, an active member of the Downtown Northampton Association, a leader of Let’s Go Downtown! (rooting on progress during the Main Street redesign), and a member of the Leadership team for Strong Towns Northampton (strongtownsnorthampton.org).
