During your hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of Basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. Stones may be placed along your back, chest, stomach, arms, legs, hands and feet. Your therapist will integrate these stones into your therapeutic treatment using long strokes or circular movement and may leave stones stationary to work away at the trouble spots.
